What this shows
- Manufacturing value added grew 9.2% in Q1 (April–June) 2026-27, up from 8.3% a year earlier and faster than GDP (7.8%).
- In nominal terms manufacturing grew only 7.7% that quarter: input prices rose faster than output prices, so the implicit deflator was negative (-1.5%), MoSPI explained on 2 September 2026.
- Growth swings widely between quarters under double deflation, from 5.5% to 18.1% in 2023-24 alone; compare like quarters across years.

What exactly is measured
Year-on-year growth in real gross value added by manufacturing, by quarter of the financial year, at constant 2022-23 prices. The new series measures manufacturing by double deflation (output and inputs deflated separately), which makes quarterly growth more volatile than in the old series. The latest quarter is a first estimate.
