What exactly is measured

Share of children aged 12–23 months who had received BCG, a measles-containing vaccine and three doses each of polio (not counting the birth dose) and DPT or pentavalent vaccine, among children whose vaccination card was shown to the interviewer. This is the measure the Health Ministry leads with; the NFHS also gives a broader one that adds the mother's recall for children without a card (see takeaways). NFHS-4 did not report the card-only measure, so the series starts with NFHS-5.
