- India's rice production is estimated at 154.0 million tonnes in 2025-26 (third advance estimates), up from 150.2 million tonnes in 2024-25 and 104.4 million tonnes in 2015-16.
- Most rice is a kharif crop: 124.8 million tonnes in 2025-26, against 18.1 million tonnes in rabi and 11.2 million tonnes in the summer season.
- Rice is about 41% of India's foodgrain output (154.0 of 376.6 million tonnes in 2025-26), more than wheat at 120.7 million tonnes.

What exactly is measured
Production of rice in million tonnes, kharif, rabi and summer seasons together, from the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. The latest year is the third advance estimate and will be revised; earlier years are final estimates. Before 2022-23 the summer crop was counted with rabi, which does not change the totals.
